Ah...I am so jeoulous! :) My mom went a few times to Istanbul for work , and she loved it. I remember getting really excited from all the different sweets she brought back with her.
I was going to go with a friend, her mom and aunt, once until they told me that the purpose of their trip was to buy stuff for a future bride ( my friend) .They were not planning on going to the blue mosque or see anything that is not related to shopping. I chose not to go.
We went to Istanbul on our school graduation trip. Amazing city and the East-meets-West aspect was indeed very very fascinating. Ahhh, the memories..
Highlights: - Bosporus-cruise
- exploring the city at night
- freezing my ass off along with two friends for about 3 hours while waiting for the sunrise in the Eminönü district, was toootally worth it though in the end

Turkey is fantastic! I went there 4 times last year and completely fell in love! Istanbul has to be one of my favourite cities ever! Also Cappadocia, Antalya and the Kurdish bits are breathtaking!
why couldn't cairo be as well cared for? it could rock as hard as istanbul.
